How to find your Google Analytics Property ID

A 6-step walkthrough to grab the 9-digit GA4 Property ID and connect it to inMOLA. Takes about 2 minutes if you already have access.

Before you start

  • You need a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property — not the old Universal Analytics.
  • Your Google account needs at least Viewer access to that property.
  • Have your inMOLA dashboard open in another tab so you can paste the ID right after copying it.
1

Sign in to Google Analytics

Open analytics.google.com in a new tab and sign in with the Google account that has access to your GA4 property.

If you have several Google accounts, double-check you are signed in with the one that actually owns the property.
2

Pick the right property

In the top-left corner — right next to the Google Analytics logo — click the property selector. A dropdown with all your accounts and properties opens. Pick the property you want to connect to inMOLA.

Property names look like “mybrand.com - GA4”. Avoid anything labelled “UA-…” — those are the old Universal Analytics properties and we do not support them.
3

Open Admin

Bottom-left of the page, click the gear icon (⚙ Admin). This opens the admin panel with two columns: Account on the left and Property on the right.

If you do not see the gear icon, your Google account does not have Admin or Editor access to that property. Ask the property owner to grant you access — or to do steps 4–5 for you.
4

Click "Property details"

In the Property column (the one on the right), click Property details. In some accounts it is called Property settings — same thing.

5

Copy the Property ID

At the top-right of the Property details panel you will see a label PROPERTY ID followed by a 9-digit number (for example 123456789). Copy that number.

Do not copy the Measurement ID (the one that starts with G-XXXXXXX). That is a different ID used for tracking code installation. We need the numeric Property ID.
6

Paste it into inMOLA

In your inMOLA dashboard, open Settings → Integrations → Google Analytics, paste the 9-digit Property ID into the input, and click Connect. inMOLA will verify access and start syncing within a few minutes.

Stuck? Here are the most common issues

I do not see the ⚙ Admin gear at the bottom-left

Your account does not have permission on that property. Ask the property owner (usually whoever installed Google Analytics) to grant you at least Viewer access — or to follow steps 4–5 and send you the 9-digit ID.

I only see "UA-XXXXX-X" instead of a 9-digit number

You are looking at a Universal Analytics property. UA was sunset by Google in mid-2023, and inMOLA only supports GA4. You will need to create a GA4 property first — Google has a free migration assistant inside Analytics.

I have several properties. Which one do I connect?

Connect the one that receives traffic from the website (or app) you want inMOLA to analyze. If you are not sure, look at the "Property name" in step 5 and check the website URL listed in the property details.

Property ID vs Measurement ID — what is the difference?

Property ID is the 9-digit number used by the GA4 Data API — this is what inMOLA needs. Measurement ID starts with G- and is used inside the tracking code on your website. They are not interchangeable.

I pasted the ID but inMOLA says "no access"

The Property ID is correct, but the Google account you connected to inMOLA does not have access to that property in Google Analytics. Go back to Admin → Property access management, add the inMOLA service account email shown in your dashboard with Viewer role, and retry.
